Amapondo Community Projects
In 2006, the ACP (former Amapondo Children’s Project) received its NGO status. It was started as a project involving local schools and an orphanage with the aim to empower the minds and spark the initiative of the local community. Helping children to help themselves by enabling them with the appropriate skills needed for a self-determined future.
Because of the commitment of our amazing volunteers from all over the world and their valuable work with the people of Port St Johns, we have constantly been striving to gain more insights into the community’s challenges and turn them into opportunities.
We are proud to say that to the day, we have been able to add a crafts project, an adult literacy school, a music school and a gardening workshop to our list of projects.
We accept applications throughout the year, from a minimum stay of 1 week up to a year or longer. Please check out the available placements. It shouldn’t be a problem to combine them, so you can be involved in more than one project. If you wish to do so, please state it on your application form.
